Purpose

This is what is expected from our on-scene crews when there are possible environmental concerns. Please utilize Environmental Services as a subject-matter expert resource that can be of significant assistance.

Request their assistance through the RCOG Dispatch under the following conditions:

  • Whenever there has been a petroleum product spill of 25 gallons or more
    • (This is a reportable incident with the State – let them report this.).
  • Whenever there is enough of a chemical/product spill to create a visible sheen.
  • Whenever the chemical/product spill makes its way into a waterway.
  • Whenever there is a known dangerous chemical/product spill.
  • Whenever there is a suspected dangerous or unknown chemical/product spill.
  • Whenever there is enough of a chemical/product spill such that a clean-up contractor is needed at the scene.
  • Whenever the chemical/product spill itself creates an additional hazard,
    • (Such as a flammable spill or a slick roadway).
  • Whenever the on-scene Incident Commander believes there is a need for their assistance.
