Extensive Safety Officer training has taken place over the last two months. We have trained and certified our designated Safety Officers as compliant with the requirements found in NFPA 1521 ‘Fire Department Safety Officer Professional Qualifications. This ensures that our Safety Officers are knowledgeable and prepared to proficiently perform on our emergency scenes, especially on the working fireground.

Each shift has a primary Safety Officer (#134), three backup Safety Officers and a few reserve Safety Officers. In addition, we trained all EMS Officers (#123) so that they too can be used as an Incident Safety Officer if the need happens.

Safety Officers #134: A-Shift – Primary – Lt Traver; Backups – Lt Gasper, Lt Bonnell, Lt Zuber*; Reserves – Lt Villareal, Lt A. Hennessy

B-Shift – Primary – Lt Stockton; Backups – Lt Deck, Lt Ohrt, Lt Dumas; Reserves – Lt Stark, Lt Ferguson, Lt Garza, Lt M. Hoffman, Lt R. Reed

C-Shift – Primary – Lt G. Segura; Backups – Lt Lanahan, Lt Mumma, Lt Bartley; Reserves – Lt Glazener, Lt Pfouts, Lt J. Hoffman, Lt Beilstein
