Policy/Procedure

1. The Air Units carry a supply of 30 minute, 4500 psi cylinders, SCBA harnesses, and miscellaneous equipment related to their function. A journal shall be maintained to track the unit’s response to incidents, the unit’s inventory, and other matters of importance related to the unit.

4. When the Air Unit is released from an incident, low cylinders shall be filled immediately.

5. The Toledo Fire and Rescue Maintenance Bureau shall be notified of any malfunctioning equipment on the Air Unit. Repair Requests shall be attached to said equipment when sent to the Bureau for repair

6. All equipment exchanged with an Air Unit, shall be exchanged at a one-to-one ratio. In order to facilitate accurate inventories and record keeping, no extra cylinders, harnesses, or other equipment will be given to unit’s requesting them without approval from a chief officer and documentation supporting the request.

PERSONNEL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE AIR UNIT MUST MAINTAIN AN ACCURATE UNIT INVENTORY.

Equipment removed from an Air Unit shall be facilitated through fire personnel assigned to it and promptly reported to the Company Officer responsible for the unit.
