Policy/Procedure

1. General station security is the responsibility of the Station Commander. Long-term security issues unique to a station shall be addressed by the Station Commander in consultation with the Fire Administration.

  1. All stations shall be locked during the day when the station is not occupied, and no later than 2300 hours.

  2. Company Commanders shall be conscious of daily security issues and implement additional security measures as needed during their respective tours.

  3. Extra precaution shall be taken during public events which cause people to be gathered in or near a station, during periods of civil disturbance, or during periods of heightened national security.

2. Any item that could be disruptive to the normal functioning of the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department operations or create a safety hazard, is prohibited and cannot be brought into any TFRD facility. This would include animals not approved by the Fire Chief or his/her designee, offensive or obscene materials, weapons, ethyl alcohol, and illegal drugs, to name a few prohibited items.
