**Policy/Procedure** 

**1.** If a domestic fuel oil tank is leaking, crewmembers shall first shut off the emergency switch to the burner.

**2.** Fire personnel shall then close the oil supply valve to the burner.

**3.** If available, crewmembers shall utilize an emergency tank repair kit to stop the leak.

**4.** If the leak is serious, fire personnel shall shut off and/or remove all sources of ignition until all the oil can be picked up. If there is a floor drain present, it should be sealed off.

**5.** **NOTE:** It is the owner’s responsibility to remove/clean-spilled oil. Crew members shall not clean up spilled oil.

**6.** The Incident Commander shall update Dispatch and direct Dispatch personnel to contact Environmental Services and/or the Sewer Department.
