**Policy/Procedure** 

**1.** If radio failure occurs (FAILSOFT) while operating at a structure fire, the following shall occur:
  - Command shall order the fire apparatus closest to the structure to sound the air horn 3 consecutive times. After a pause, the horn shall be sounded again, 3 consecutive times.\\ \\ 
  - Upon hearing the notice to evacuate, all members shall immediately exit the structure. Officers shall report to the command post to confirm crew accountability (PARs). No crews are to re-enter the structure without direction from Command.\\ \\ 
  - Command, in consultation with Safety, shall then determine the safety and feasibility of continued interior operations. Command shall consider the use of TALKAROUND channels in making this determination. If it is not safe or feasible for personnel to re- enter the structure, firefighting operations will be continued from the exterior.
