+ | Altercations shall be avoided whenever possible. However, in the event that an altercation develops between Fire Department personnel and a civilian(s), | ||

+ | **1.** Fire personnel shall protect themselves and their co-workers. | ||

+ | **2.** Fire personnel involved shall request a Police Crew ‘Code 3’ and or press the Emergency Button(s) on their portable radios. They shall inform Dispatch they are involved in an altercation. | ||

+ | **3.** An additional first responder shall be requested, if necessary. | ||

+ | **4.** Names of all personnel on the scene shall be provided to responding police crews. | ||

+ | **5.** A Battalion Chief shall be dispatched to the scene. The Battalion Chief shall investigate the incident immediately and inform the appropriate Deputy Chief of the details surrounding the incident at his/her earliest convenience. The Battalion Chief shall write a Communication to the Chief of the Department, through the appropriate Deputy Chief, stating the facts of the investigation. | ||
